Otter.ai Recommended Settings

Get to Settings

To access settings log into Otter.ai, click on your name (top left), and select Account Settings

Click on the Meetings Tab at the top of the page

Update Settings

Adjust your settings to match the screenshot below

All the settings should match the above, but three are very important. We do not want to share meeting notes with external users for liability reasons.

  • Default audience for shared notes is set to Don't share: this makes it less likely notes will be shared
  • Send live transcript and summary must be Off to avoid distributing notes to all other meeting attendees
  • Send Otter Chat Q&A should be Off

Stupid Shit to Lookout For

For some infuriating reason, having these settings as default does not change previous meetings. It's worth checking your meetings to see if they are distributing notes.

You can check this by going to the Home screen (left margin) then clicking on a meeting in the left margin.

If your meeting is set to distribute notes, update it to the 'Don't Share" selection
